For Immediate Release

North Bay, Ontario – The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario is pleased to announce the student trustees who will serve on the school board for the 2026–2027 school year. Elected by vote of the Student Senate, composed of two representatives from each of the board’s secondary schools, their appointments were subsequently officially approved by school board trustees during the board meeting held on February 27.

Mélissa Trudel, a Grade 11 student at École secondaire publique Écho du Nord in Kapuskasing, will serve as Chair of the student trustees. Having previously served as Vice-Chair North in 2025–2026, she now steps into the role of Chair. She will be joined by Mireille Trudel, also a Grade 11 student at École secondaire publique Écho du Nord, who will serve as Vice-Chair North, as well as Janelle Crawford, a Grade 10 student at École secondaire publique Nipissing Ouest in Sturgeon Falls, who will serve as Vice-Chair South.

Student trustees play an important role on the school board by representing the voice of students and contributing to discussions related to school life and initiatives that affect students across the board’s communities.

The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario wishes them much success in their roles and thanks them for their commitment.
