North Bay, Ontario — The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) is pleased to announce the official swearing-in of its student trustees for the 2025–2026 school year, held during the first Council meeting on September 26.
Students Amélie Éthier (President), Mélissa Trudel (Vice-President North), and Emmanuel Fankam (Vice-President South) will represent the voice of CSPNE students over the coming year. Amélie and Mélissa attend École secondaire publique Écho du Nord in Kapuskasing, while Emmanuel is a student at École secondaire publique aux Quatre-Vents in Parry Sound.
Amélie Éthier is beginning her second term as a student trustee, after serving as Vice-President North last year. Mélissa Trudel and Emmanuel Fankam, meanwhile, are starting their first terms on the Council.
Throughout their mandate, they will have the opportunity to share the perspectives of students from all CSPNE secondary schools, contribute to discussions surrounding school life, and support various initiatives that promote student engagement and success.
From October 16 to 18, the three students also took part in the annual conference of the Fédération nationale des conseils scolaires francophones (FNCSF), held in Kelowna, British Columbia. This national event allowed them to connect with other francophone student trustees from across the country, participate in inspiring workshops, and showcase the Francophonie of Northeastern Ontario on a national stage.
“Our student trustees play an essential role in the democratic life of our Board. Their commitment and ideas enrich our discussions and help build a more inclusive and dynamic school environment,” said Natalie Joncas-Raymond, Director of Education at CSPNE.
The CSPNE congratulates Amélie, Mélissa, and Emmanuel for their dedication and leadership and wishes them a term filled with learning and meaningful achievements.
