For Immediate Release

North Bay, Ontario – The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) is proud to announce the launch of the renovation project at École publique Passeport Jeunesse. The first phase of the project, aimed at improving the school's interior layout, began this week.

On June 7, 2024, the office of the Honourable Mr. Pirie, Member of Provincial Parliament for the Timmins riding, announced $7 million in funding for the expansion of École publique Passeport Jeunesse to better meet the needs of secondary-level students.

The first phase of renovations includes new classrooms, including a STEAM room (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). This versatile environment is designed to encourage innovation and interdisciplinary learning. Throughout the entirety of the project, the CSPNE, in collaboration with the staff of École publique Passeport Jeunesse, will ensure that student safety remains the top priority during the construction period.

Isabelle Boucher, the school principal, expresses her enthusiasm for the project:
“The staff at École publique Passeport Jeunesse demonstrates remarkable open-mindedness and exceptional flexibility. As principal, I couldn’t ask for a better team during this period of growth and expansion. We promote a mindset of continuous growth with our students throughout the year, and we apply this same approach within our staff, who are excited to welcome a growing school community at Passeport Jeunesse.”

The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario wishes to express its deep gratitude to the provincial government and the Ministry of Education for this significant funding. This essential support will help strengthen the learning environment, contributing to the academic success of our students.

The second phase of the project, planned for a later stage, promises to further transform students’ school experience. As École publique Passeport Jeunesse prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary, this next phase of work will signify another significant milestone in its evolution. Exciting announcements are coming soon!
