Highlights from the CSPNE Organizational Meeting

The Board’s Executive is elected

Timmins – Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) held its organizational meeting on December 7th in Timmins.

Following the swearing-in ceremony held in the inaugural meeting, Board members elected the executive which is comprised of the Chair and Vice-Chairs.  The outgoing Chair, Mr. Denis Labelle, was re-elected Board Chair.  Mr. Labelle, a trustee representing West Nipissing, was very pleased to have the support and recognition of his colleagues who have entrusted him with his eight mandate as Chair of CSPNE.

As first Vice-Chair for CSPNE’s northern jurisdiction, Council elected Mrs. Jeannette Labrèche who represents the Timmins area.  Mr. Jules Duchesne, trustee representing North Bay, was elected second Vice-Chair for CSPNE’s southern jurisdiction. 

The involvement and commitment of the school board trustees play a significant role in developing various initiatives for CSPNE, its schools and school communities.

In accordance with universal values, the CSPNE covers an area of 46,453 km2 and provides the communities of Timmins, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Hearst, Temiskaming Shores, Sturgeon Falls, and North Bay with quality French-language education. Close to 2,200 northeastern Ontario students have chosen French-language public schools.
