North Bay, Ontario - The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CSPNE) is delighted to officially announce the arrival of a new Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) at École secondaire publique Odyssée in North Bay. Starting this September, students will be able to enroll in the Justice, Community Safety and Emergency Services HSM.
This program enables students to acquire specialized skills and knowledge, while earning a certification relevant to the industry of their choice. At Odyssée, the SHSM in Justice, Community Safety and Emergency Services was a thoughtful addition in line with student interests and community needs. In fact, the SHSM builds on the justice and community safety program introduced for the 2023-2024 school year. Odyssée is extremely proud to add the official SHSM seal to the program.
School principal Mathieu Perron confirms that the new program will benefit both the school and the North Bay community. "We identified different options for programs that could benefit our school and wider community. As a city with many law and security services, and with an apparent shortage of manpower to fill available positions, it's obvious that we can guide our students towards careers and professions that interest them and are in demand. What's more, community partnerships to offer a complete and dynamic experience are really rich for our school."
Students enrolled in an MHS finish high school with valuable skills, industry-recognized certifications and training, and a high school diploma that bears the seal of the major.
